Missing Theme on WinXP SP2

Postby fell.soft » Tue May 31, 2011 8:24 am

Hi,

I have created an installer with a watermarked (= my own banner and dialog bitmaps) classic theme. It installs Windows Installer 3.1 and .Net 3.5SP1 (if not available) and then jumps into the application setup.
When deploying the setup on Win XP SP2 the prerequisites are installed as expected. However, after the two components have been installed and the installers jumps to the welcome screen of the application install, the theme is gone and all I see is a grey window with buttons and texts but no images or styling. Please see attached screenshot.

Any ideas as to what may cause this? The same installer runs fine on Win 7 and Vista.
Thank you very much!

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

I'm not sure why you are encountering this behavior.
Can you please send us the aip file and a verbose log created to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate this problem?

Regards,
Ciprian

Hi,
I encounter the same problem in XP SP3.
However, it seems that the problem exists when I download the msi from a URL, but not when I run in from near the bootstrapper...

Did you find the reason for this problem?

Thanks

Hi,

This could happen if you are using customized images for your package. Are you using one of the images we provide or your own?

Also, this gets even stranger for you as it work when you launch the package using the bootstrapper. How do you launch the MSI from the URL, i.e. you simply call it from a browser or use the same EXE generated by Advanced Installer?

Hi Bogdan,
I do use my own images, though I took care to define them the correct size (pixels and dpi).
We use the bootstrapper (setup.exe) to call the msi from the URL.

EDIT:
When I tried the install with a single exe file (one that includes both the bootstrapper and the MSI), the problem was gone...
