Corrupt Installation

Hi,

I have a user who has a corrupt installation and I do not know how to fix it. When they try to uinstall the existing version they get an error that says
there is a problem with windows installer package, program required could not be run to contact vendor.
. When they try to install it again they get an error that says that this version is already installed on this computer.

I have asked them to click repair or change from Add or Remove programs but they say that the button is not there. Is there any other way to fix this catch 22 situation?

Hi,

This happens because a custom action scheduled for the Uninstall sequence cannot be run. Therefore, you should investigate why the custom action fails.

If you need to remove a broken installation you can use the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
