How to change "Welcome to" dialog when upgrading

Hi,
I'm currently evaluating Advanced Installer, and I really like your program. Tried Installshield, Installaware and a few others, but I think I will choose Advanced Installer.

And now to my question.
Is it possible to change the "Welcome to" dialog when you do an upgrade or maybe even create your own, so it doesn't look the same as when you're doing a new install.

One more thing...
When I do an upgrade I don't want to see all dialogs like, Licenseagreement, FolderDlg, Shortcuts and so on, so I jump directly to the "VerifyReadyDialog by using "OLDPRODUCT". Works fine.

APPDIR it "remebers" since first install, but it looses the shorcutsettings from the "ShortcutsDlg". Is there any way you can get it to "remember" all settings without having to display all dialogs again?
I want the same settings that was choosen on the first install.

Regards,
Mike

Hi,

Currently, the appearance of this dialog is determined by the settings in the "Global Properties" page and it is the same as the appearance of the installation dialogs.

However, in the 6.2 version of Advanced Installer we will include a feature which will allow you to set a different image for the Welcome dialog. This feature is scheduled for release in the near future.
When I do an upgrade I don't want to see all dialogs like, Licenseagreement, FolderDlg, Shortcuts and so on, so I jump directly to the "VerifyReadyDialog by using "OLDPRODUCT". Works fine.
Please note that you an obtain this behavior by using a patch to upgrade the installation. You can read more about patches here:

This can be done by saving the values of the properties used in the original installation package in the registry (for example the value of the AI_DESKTOP_SH property which corresponds to the Desktop shortcut checkbox).

For more information about the "Registry" page please see:

During an upgrade you can use a custom action to read these values and set the properties in the new installation.

You can read more about "Custom Actions" here:

Thanx for all the answers!

The patches I have under control.
It was more the major upgrades I was a little bit concerned about.

In "the near future" is exactly what translated into real time? :)

By the way, is there a way to change the translations for the updater?
I'm not really satisfied with those. Can't find anything i the dictionaries.

Have a nice weekend!

The next version of Advanced Installer is scheduled for release in a couple of weeks. I'm afraid that I cannot give you an exact ETA because we are still testing it.
By the way, is there a way to change the translations for the updater?
I'm afraid that this cannot be done. The only way to change the Updater translations is to send them to us and we will consider including them in a future version (if they are correct).

Hi Cosmin,

It's not a big change I'm after.
When you look for an update and no new updates are avaliable you get a popup that says "Programmet är uppdaterat" which translated into english means "Program is updated". That is not really correct in this case, since no updates where found and nothing really happened.

The popup should say something like, "Inga uppdateringar funna", which translated into english is "No updates where found".

Maybe you can check this with your translators, and you can include this change in the nextcoming version. :)

Regards,
Mike
