system32 files put in syswow64 for x64 Vista

Advanced Installer 6.3.
I have files that need to be in the system32 directory when installed on 64 bit Vista. Using the existing installer directory of "system" under Windows puts the files in syswow64 instead of system32. Creating a system32 directory in the installer still installs the files in syswow64. Any ideas?

Re: system32 files put in syswow64 for x64 Vista

Hi,

The "System" folder in the "Files and Folders" page is associated with the SystemFolder installer property. This property is resolved to "C:\Windows\system32" on a 64-bit machine and to "C:\Windows\SysWow64" on a 64-bit machine.

If you want to install files in the "system32" folder on a 64-bit machine, you need to place your files in the "System 64" folder in the "Files and Folders" page (not in the "System" folder). This folder is associated with the System64Folder property.

I moved the install files to the "windows\System 64" installer directory as you suggested, but the files still install into the SysWow64 directory.

Re: system32 files put in syswow64 for x64 Vista

Hi,

Is the installation package set to 64-bit? This is done in the Install Parameters page through the "Package Type" combo. Note that only 64-bit installation packages can install files into 64-bit locations. Also, if you application is 32-bit, it should install its files into 32-bit locations (in the "SysWow64" folder, not in "system32").

That answers my question. Thanks.
