Prerequisites not always found

I have some Prerequisites which where checked by AI through registry keys. Now i have an austrian Server with an english w2k3 and some prereqs are not found.

I don't even have an idea what this could be. I've manually checked if the registry has the entrys i am looking for. But the registry is okay. So AI should show the prereq screen because of some missing keys.

Can you please give me more details about the prerequisites you are using? Are they predefined or custom? What registry entries are they using for detection?

I want to check if a SQL Server or a SQL Server Express is installed and check following keys.


HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\Instance Names\SQL\INSTANCE_NAMES
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\INSTANCE_NAMES
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\Services\SQL Server\Name

I install SQL Express if all of above fails.

I do the same with the Management Studio.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Shortcut\SSMSEE
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\SSMSEE
HKLM\Software\Classes\Applications\sqlwb.exe

FileVersion
%ProgramFiles%\sqlwb.exe

I install SQL Management Express if all of the above fails.


I also decide upon the language selection Box if I install the English or German Versions.

Hi Gary,

Can you please send us the AIP you are using to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate it? I think that this problem is related to the languages supported by the prerequisites. Do you know by any chance the locale used by the Austrian server?

Hi Cosmin,
that was a very good hint. The system locale was on de-at . I thought that when I have an english Operating system the selection in AI for English should work.

I added the supplemental languages for english and German in the AI Prereq and everything works fine.
