Associate file with alternate app

I install content files with a product-specific extension, but the files don't "open" in my product. As xml files, my product reads them but I want the user to be able to easily open them using whatever tool they use for reading/editing xml.

Using AI's file association feature, I see that I can set MIME type and default verb, but it seems that the only program I can associate with is my own.

Is there any way to associate one of my file extensions with, say iexplore.exe?

Re: Associate file with alternate app

Hi,

Unfortunately Windows Installer can create file associations only for applications installed by the package. If you want to create a file association for an application already installed on the machine, you can use the Registry page. Perhaps this article will help you.
