MDAC and Net Framework

Postby Beruldsen » Tue May 15, 2012 3:42 pm

Hi...I've recently purchased the Professional version. I used InstallShield in the past. I have a new VBnet 2010 application that includes a MS Access database. I'm not sure how to include MDAC and what version of Net Framework (I assume 4.0). Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks AB

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Advanced Installer.

You can add both as prerequisites from the Prerequisite page. We also have .NET as a predefined prerequisite.

I see the Net Framework Prerequisites but what about MDAC...is that MS Access 2007.... If so ... is it possible to have this run as hidden?

From my understanding, MDAC was not distributed with MS Office 2007, so you must use another detection criteria.

Here are a couple of articles to help you with this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301202
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_ ... n-checking

is it possible to have this run as hidden?

You can specify the command line for each UI level of your prerequisite from its Setup Files Tab.
