Shortcut name build from Product Name

Postby DanDan » Sun Mar 06, 2011 1:21 am

It would be VERY handy to be able to build shortcut names from the product name. As-is, I have to manually type the shortcut name I'd like to use; with four different compiles (32 and 64 bit, full and evaluation versions) it's possible to get the shortcut names wrong. Building those names from the product name [|ProductName] would be VERY handy...

Hi,

The name field for a shortcut is pseudo-formatted and you can set the value "[|ProductName]" in it. This will resolve at build-time to the product name you set
in Product Details page.

Isn't this what you need?

Hmmm... I just popped open an AIP file, and went to the "Resources|Files and Folders" section, and selected "Application Shortcut Folder" from the tree control. I double-click on the name of the icon so I can edit it, and nothing pops up when I start to type "[|" like it does for all other fields. But I guess it does take that field/value... Just seems to have different behavior on the UI than most other edit fields for the installer.
