Do not remove file on uninstall

I have an application that creates a file that defines a grid layout and application settings when it exits - so that it remembers user's choices, etc...

Since the file was not included with the install, I do not believe AI will uninstall it when the application is removed. However, I would like to now include a default configuration file but

1) I do not want the file to overwrite one if it's already present - how do i do this?
2). Since it will be included in the install - I do not want it removed in the uninstall. How do I accomplish this?

If you don't want a file removed during uninstall you can mark its component as Permanent. This can be done in Organization page.
