Launch condition - check for existing software

We have software build in Adobe AIR, in our new version using Advanced installer we need to be able to check if someone already has our software installed with the old Adobe AIR installer. If they have, it needs to be uninstalled automatically or they need to get a message to uninstall it themselves. Since they both use the same directories.

What would be the best way to go about this?

- check registry ?
- check existence of a folder ?

And HOW can i get this to work? Launch conditions dont seem to enable folder or registry checks.
