Path containing earlier Pathes

Postby maktabi » Wed Apr 04, 2012 1:32 pm

Hello Everybody,

For few days I am trying to prepare a Path to upgrade base installation package, that would contains every changes provided by earlier Patch.

1.0.0 - Base version
1.0.1 - first patch
1.0.2 - second patch
1.0.3 - third patch

How can I make second Path to contains also changes from first one, third to contains first and second and so on. I want to install latest path without need to install all earlier patches.

I was trying to organize Path this way:

IMAGES
TargetComputer
Family
1.0.3 – Upgraded Image
1.0.0 – Target
1.0.1 - Target
1.0.2 – Target

Is it even possible to do such thing?

The representation you've made is exactly how you should have the target and upgraded images added in the package. Once you will have
multiple targets for a single upgrade image Advanced Installer will generate a patch that can be applied over any version of the ones added, i.e. 1.0.0, 1.0.1 and 1.0.2.

Hallo,

Unfortunately it doesn’t work.
I have installed base version 1.0.0,
Next I have installed 1.0.1
Then I have wanted to install 1.0.3 without 1.0.2 generated in way described above.
Path have generated properly.
When I want to install path 1.0.3 an error occurs: 2725 Invalid database tables

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Patching is a very delicate process and requires careful settings. All this while keeping the patch rules.

It's hard to say what's wrong in your exact case. You can verify all rules are kept between the versions.

If all proves inconclusive, please send us the .AIP project files to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can take a look.

All the best,
Mihai
