Re: MSIX packages for Windows 7 SP1

Hi,

Topic update - This improvement has been included in Advanced Installer since version 17.0.

You can now define Windows 7,8 or 8.1 as targets for your MSIX packages from the Builds page.

Regards,
Bogdan

Re: Azure Devops best practices: Generating release notes automatically?

Thanks Simon, appreciate the feedback. From what I see you are mostly focusing on the automatic generation of the release notes and not the entire update pipeline (i.e. publishing the new package on your server, configuring the updates project with the right detection rules, etc...) Since you need m...

Re: Using PowerShell to build updater

Hi, Bogdan here, the product manager at Advanced Installer. Can you share with us more details on your automation plans? For example, we have seen users requesting support for Github integration (which we released a few months ago) and we also noticed some of our Azure Devops users have automation p...

Re: Azure Devops best practices: Generating release notes automatically?

Hi Simon, Bogdan here, I manage product development at Advanced Installer. I was looking over your idea/request and I was curious if our Github integration is something that influenced your idea or not? Besides that, I have a few more questions: 1) Do you want to include all the issues in the releas...

Re: Could not access network location

Hi Walter, Welcome to our community. To get a solution as fast as possible we recommend you always do a search on our website for the error message you get before posting a new question. This might help you find the solution in minutes instead of waiting for our next-day answer. For example, in your...

Re: How do I determine if an inline powershell script has been blocked or simply failed

Hi, Scripts (PS or VBS) have a history with being blocked either by antiviruses or other group policy management solutions. My recommendation would be to re-write your code into a C# custom action . This way you will end up with a DLL as custom action which should save you from all the headaches of ...

Re: How to fix Headless app from .exe to .appx

Hi,

The solution to fix the HeadlessAppBypass error is to add an appAlias for your console app in the Declarations page from your Advanced Installer project.

Re: Problem creating registry key with MSIX installer

Hi Robert, Please note that the registry you put inside an MSIX package are only visible to your app, not for the rest of the apps or the OS. With this in mind, the Run key is useless for what you want to do. The solution is to go to Declarations page and add an app declaration for a startup task, a...

Re: Upgrade appx version using advanced installer by creating a backup and then restoring from it

Hi Rachit, For APPX/MSIX packages the app user data is migrated/preserved automatically by the OS when you install a new version of the package, as long as the new version has the same package identity (eg/ " YourApplication.YourCompany ") as the old version. All you have to do is to run the new APP...

Re: Symantec endpoint risk issue

Hi, re you seriously suggesting that "trying the latest" version might fix the problem? Since the AV vendors change their heuristics daily, sometimes this helps, just as you can see in the initial messages from this thread. We do not guarantee that an upgrade to the latest version will fix your vers...

Re: The handle is in the wrong state for the requested operation

It does not matter on what OS you're running the server. As long as your server knows to handle correctly HTTP/HTTPs request correctly the updater will work with it. To test it place your updates file URL in a browser, if the browser can load the file from your server, then the updater should be abl...

Re: Update Config Project: CommandLine field is not working -> makes the installation unsuccessful

Hi Zsolt, Indeed, the command line you are passing in the updater is correctly passed to the installer, the updater is not at fault for the error. You see the error in the updater dialog because you are incorrectly using the property REMOVE. Thus the detection criteria of the updater gives the error...

Re: Problem while reading from software configured COM Ports

The MSI just included an EXE launcher that in the background calls java.exe and passes to it your JAR and the appropriate command line parameters, based on the configurations you made in Java page, in your Advanced ...
