Error when opening a project

I'm getting the following when opening a project: [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR] ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at address [0x00eb6723] Advanced Installer 10.6 build 53162 *** Stack Trace (x86) *** [0x00eb6723] ----- [0x08408ee4] ----- [0x0080854c] ----- [0x778ae3a0] RtlAllocateHeap() [0x6d000269] malloc() [0x...

Re: Recovery options for services

I thought I'd post this here for posterity. I adapted this command to: sc.exe failure SERVICENAME actions=restart/60000 reset=0 That works fine, except on XP (and possibly Win2k3, although I didn't test there). On XP, this syntax is required: sc.exe failure SERVICENAME actions= restart/60000 reset= ...

Re: Upgraded to 94, can't build

I renamed the "UI Positions" registry key, and that fixed it. I moved two to one monitor temporarily, and AI was attempting to render the build dialog on the second, non-existent monitor. Consider this a bug report. :)

Upgraded to 94, can't build

I just upgraded to 9.4, and it's having serious problems. For any of my solutions, if I press the build button, AI locks up. The build dialog doesn't come up, but it things it's there somewhere, because the main AI window behaves as if a modal dialog is in play (is unresponsive), but the build dialo...

Re: SelfUnregModules not working

There may well be things left behind that I didn't find that were still referencing the DLL. I'm going to have to admit defeat on this one-- the CA to manually unregister it works, this is the only product that uses the component, and the component must be unregistered at uninstall time, so I'm just...

Re: SelfUnregModules not working

Alright, I finally had some time to look into this. Sorry about the delay. The problem seems to be that the component installs with a refcount of 2\: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs C:\Windows\system32\BmaPst32.dll 2 Uninstalling knocks it down to ...

SelfUnregModules not working

I have a self-registered DLL, and it registers fine, but it's not getting called at all during uninstall. I've attached the uninstall log; the SelfUnregModules action appears to be performed, but no DLL's mentioned. In the install log, the self-registering DLL is mentioned explicitly in the SelfRegM...

Re: Unable to extract registration information due to MPR.dl

Yes, I do. Yes, it fails with the result I posted previously when the DLL is dependent on MPR.dll.

Unable to extract registration information due to MPR.dll

I've never had a problem with extracting registration information from my DLL's until today. I traced it down to a new dependency, MPR.dll (from WNetAddConnection2). tools.exe extreg chokes on my DLL when I have that dependency. Without it, it works fine. ProcMon says it all boils down to this 1:41:...

Attached custom action DLL in a mixed package

Should we use 32-bit or 64-bit DLL's for attached custom actions in a mixed package?
