Re: Install succeeds but kernel driver does not install

Hello Mike, I am afraid I cannot find anything useful in the log file. Accordingly to the log file the "Driver_Install" custom action exit successfully and so the installation process. Can you try to manually launch the Setupapi.dll -> InstallHinfSection function and see if the driver succ...

Re: Make call into service

Hello Mike, I have tested your installation scenario and a service notification control was successfully sent to a service whithin the same installation process that installed the service too. Also, the service installation was launched within another custom action too. I am not sure why this does n...

Re: Wait for Service to be running and then proceed

Hello, Potential solution 1: How do I detect that the service is running before proceeding? We do not have any built-in support for this. A workaround solution could be to check this within the implementation code of your next custom action. Potential solution 2: How do I make the installation wait ...

Re: Problem when register .net Assembly for COM

Hello David, Thank you for the sent dependency files. We have further tested this and replicated the behavior. However, there seems to be an issue with your DLL file because even when we try to manually register it by using the Regasm.exe system tool the registration fails. image.jpg The "warni...

Re: Custom action not in same folder as temporary files

Hello Mike, I am very sorry but such kind of improvements are almost impossible to be implemented. This is because, after further investigating this scenario we found out that the temporary subfolder created under TEMP location is not created by the Windows Installer service, but by the WiX DLL itse...

Re: Make call into service

Hello Mike, This is strange indeed. For the moment I have no clue why this happens. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the custom action call is triggered within the same process as the one which effectively installs the service too. Please give me some more time to further test and inv...

Re: Custom action not in same folder as temporary files

Hello Mike, In this case I am afraid the only scenario I can think of will be like this: 1. add the unmanaged DLL as temporary file in "Files and Folders" page of your setup project; double clicking on it you will see the temp file has a property assigned in the Edit Temporary File dialog ...

Re: Problem when register .net Assembly for COM

Hello David,

We have investigated your scenario but we cannot test it as your DLL (to be registered) has two DLL dependencies without which we cannot test the registration option. So, could you please forward us a download link for the related dependencies too?

Re: Generating license for trial

Hello Marco, Thank you for your sent sample. After further investigating your .Net sample application I can say your app is correctly implemented in what regards the license digital signature computation. The confusion was created by the fact that you left the "License Server -> Server URL"...

Re: why mysql server sometimes failed to install ?

Hello, To troubleshoot your MySql installation I would recommend you to try manually installing it (e.g. running the smae install command line outside of the setup package process) and try to create an installation log. To prevent or undo the service creation, you could try to develop your own custo...
