Re: Limit User Interface for Install only

Hello,

Indeed, if you send the /qb parameter on install, it will not be also used on uninstall, but the "Limit to basic user interface" option from the "Install Parameters" page will affect the install and uninstall, as well.

Re: Limit User Interface for Install only

Hello Tanya, I'm afraid that it is not possible to enable Basic UI only in install and disable it on uninstall. Can you try to create a verbose log on the uninstall using one of the methods described in the " Install Logs for .exe Project " thread to see why the uninstallation hangs? Best regards, E...

Re: How to launch Application after installation for selected builds only?

Hello Tanya, The easiest way to achieve this is to go in the "Custom Actions" page and add two "Launch file" custom actions as deferred (one for 32-bit and another for 64-bit), then set the appropriate conditions for them. The 32-bit custom action can look as in the example below: File to launch: [#...

Re: Designing a Multi-Project Solution installer.

Hi, That is, how do I stop each of the projects in my suit from having to download and install the Merge Module. Please keep in mind that the Merge Module project will create a .msm file that should be added to each of the sub-installers. That merge module will be integrated into those installers, b...

Re: Designing a Multi-Project Solution installer.

Hi, Could you be kind enough to advise me how to have the "satellite" project's Start Menu links grouped in the Windows Start Menu - in your example aip "Suite Installation". The shortcuts from the Start Menu are always displayed under a single folder, subfolders are not allowed under those folders....

Re: Registry Value, append, prepend, replace

Hi Ed, During the uninstall, the package will remove only the resources it installed. Hence, since the "RegDte" registry value is created by your application, it will not be removed during the package uninstallation. The permissions should be kept as well. Isn't this happening for you? Best regards,...

Re: Registry Value, append, prepend, replace

Hi and welcome to our forums. First, you need to create a search for the previous registry value as exampled in the image below. Registry Search.png Secondly, you need to add a "Set installer property" custom action that sets the search property to a default value if it is empty ( NOT RESULT_PROPERT...

Re: Registry Value, append, prepend, replace

Hi Ed, I'm glad you found a solution to your problem and shared it with us. If you want to preserve a registry value in Advanced Installer, you can go in the "Search" page, create a registry search that gets that value and use the search property as the value of that registry value in the "Registry"...

Re: Border suddenly change to white after update to v18.1.1

Hi,

I'm not sure why you encounter this. Are you sure the "Use custom frame..." option is not selected in the "Themes" page, "Settings" tab of your project?

If so, please send me your project to support at advancedinstaller dot com so I can investigate it.

Best regards,

Re: Multiple Folders

Hi Ian, You can achieve this by creating the desired folders in the "Files and Folders" page of your project (see the image below). You can also create " property-based folders " and set the desired path for them. Let me know if this helped, otherwise give me more details about your scenario. Best r...

Re: Windows Folders

Hi Ian, Please check the " Paths of the folders in the "Files and Folders" Page " article where you can find all the information about the folders from the "Files and Folders" page. In order to add files to the "SysWOW64" folder, you need to place them in the "System" folder from the Advanced Instal...

Re: Failure during installation

Hi Zsolt, I cannot say for sure why this error appears, but since it appears only on one machine it seems to be caused by some settings from that machine. The log file that you sent shows the error code 0x80070005 which means "Access denied" and it usually occurs because of lack of permissions. You ...
