File Versions to Distribute

I am about (finally) to make my masterpiece available to the public. It is written in Visual Basic 6 with some VC++ as well but my questions are (I think) pretty general. The current versions of various programs are as in the attachment below (this is a screenshot of AI) 1. I notice that some of my ...

Where are the ocx files supposed to go?

I am now seriously building an installation package to launch a VB6 based application (I messed with this about 6 months ago but now am ready to go) I have just used the wizard as a trial and am surprised to see that it has put all of the ocx and dlls into the Application Folder! I assumed they went...

Re: Software Identification Tab

Hi
Thank you!

It would be very useful if you were to ensure that for each option we are told such advice ie whether we need to bother!

Software Identification Tab

Hi I have just returned to using this product after a 6 months break and am a little rusty! As a general point it would be VERY helpful (to me anyway) if there were an idiot's option ie what to do if in doubt For example, in Product Details there is a section called "Software Identification Tab...

Extend and Clarify some of the Help Comments Please

Hi Your F1 help is very extensive but: 1. Some of the "help" comments are not very helpful and could do with extending. An example is a question I have posted elsewhere here. Here is another example: Register prerequisite with Visual Studio Registers the prerequisite with Visual Studio. Re...

Re: One day courses?

Bogdan
Thank you! Put me down for London or Manchester, UK. At a pinch, I could probably get to Eastern Europe given enough time - maybe Prague which is a beautiful city

Many hotels will give you a free room just to get people in there (outside tourist season especially)

Register prerequisite with Advanced Installer

I have an application developed with VB6 and VC++ and note that one of the boxes i could tick is "Register prerequisite with advanced installer" There is no guidance, as far as i can see, as to what the advantages or disadvantages are of doing this or not doing this. Can you shed any light...

One day courses?

One of the problems of developing an application is that you live with it for years and it is very difficult to see it through the eyes of a newcomer. Doubtless that is true of my application too Accordingly, you could consider recruiting a team of average programmers to try out the package (not exp...

Themes - not just CD Roms please!

You give a choice of at least 50 Themes BUT every single one of them features CD Rom disks! They have invented a thing called "the internet" and a lot of applications go nowhere near disks. So: 1. Themes featuring the internet please (yes, I know you can customize but some of us are lazy a...

Re: VB6 Program Installs and Runs OK in WinXP but NOT in Win

My problem boiled down to failing to set autoregister and now my application works basically on Win7. In particular, it needed the .ocx files registered

Thank you

Re: VB6 Program Installs and Runs OK in WinXP but NOT in Win

I am narrowing this down a bit now!My VB6 application installs OK on another Win XP machine but when installed on a Win 7 PC, the application fails. I find that the problem is a Microsoft DLL, namely shlwapi.dll. I assume that this is because it cannot find it in the Sytem32 Library or maybe is look...

VB6 Program Installs and Runs OK in WinXP but NOT in Win8

Re: LicenseAgreementDlg- End user license agreement

Yes. I had this problem and it seems to have been caused by me saving a .txt file as an .rtf file. When I replaced my text with your sample the problem was resolved So, your "licence.rtf" really does need to have some rich text in it (God knows why but who are we to argue with the computer...
