Updater.exe fails with newer version installed - incorrect

We have switched our version numbering scheme from something like 5.38.11.2 to a date-based one, e.g., 2015.804.2200.2. The initial update from the old version numbering scheme to the new one was fine, but in our test environment users are reporting they are getting the error that a newer version is...

Citrix System Monitoring Agent preventing install

We have an application we wrote that uses Advanced Installer and the updater. We have started installing it on machines that are accessed via Remote Desktop Services. Because of this, our consultant for the project wants to install Citrix System Monitoring Agent. However, when its running, we cannot...

Updater User Account Default Changed?

I installed the 6.4 update and it looks like - though I'm not certain - that the default for the updater scheduled task for the property based user has changed from "[LogonUser]" to "[ComputerName]\[LogonUser]". I have tried changing it back to just "[LogonUser]", but t...

Updater Download Failing

We switched our installer setup from: * One CAB archive * Included in the MSI * Leave install files outside * Next to EXE bootstrapper to * One CAB archive per feature * Include install files in EXE * Retrieve from on-line location Some of our end users are having trouble updating the application. T...

Okay, I had always had it pointing at the msi, not the exe. How do you update the prerequisites, though? Doesn't the bootstrapper need the ini file?

CAB files and Updates

Has this changed any with the newer versions? We have a similar situation as the original poster: there is a feature that only a handful of external users will use, so when we do updates, there is no reason for everyone else to download it. The help file seems to imply this is possible (Media Tab): ...

Updater Download Failing

Some of our external clients are reporting that the updater process isn't working for them. I just did a support session with one of them and it worked for some of the computers in the office, but not all of them. We tried one of the computers where it wasn't working: 1) The download (about 60 mb) w...

I'm getting the following error when trying to create a patch build: Building package: D:\Build-Output\patches\testing\<blank>.msp Running MSI patch compatibility tests... done. Creating PCP database... done. Creating MSP... error. Exception - Reason: MsiMsp.exe failed to create the patch file. Buil...

Automated Patch Builds

I'm having difficulty getting patch builds to work consistently with AI 5.1.1. I'm using Nant. Both the base and patch msi build files go to their own directories. Sometimes it'll work, sometimes I just get garbage like the following (ran a base build immediately followed by a patch build): [exec] B...

"Unidentified Publisher" on signed msi

I've created a test certificate and installed it on a Vista computer. It is part of a Windows domain. I am using that to sign my code and sign the msi. When I double-click on the msi to begin the installation, it does correctly show that the msi has been signed. However, I'm still getting the "...
