Advanced Installer 10.1 and Windows 10

I have Advanced Installer version 10.1. I use it to make only one installer for one product. My question is will the installer built using this version work on Windows 10? All the installer does is search for versions of Photoshop, installs a plugin to them and also places a few folders to the root ...

Re: Norton Suspicious Cloud 5 With All Installers?

I've scanned the installers using Nortons and it reports no issues. I wasn't aware of anything until viewing my history of resolved security threats and seeing all the instances of a Suspicious Cloud 5 identified. I contacted Symantec about this and they looked at the installers and found no issue. ...

Norton Suspicious Cloud 5 With All Installers?

A few of my systems have Nortons Security Suite installed. When reviewing the resolved security risks, every installer I've built was detected with a Suspicious Cloud 5 by Nortons. I know there's no viruses, malware or security threat of any kind within my product. In fact, I built a few test instal...

Bizarre Problem - Installer File Disappears?

Using version 10.1 on a Windows 8 system. Have my installers written, one for 64 bit systems and another for 32 bit. Needed to build separate installers due to the nature of my product. The 64 bit installer works fine. The 32 bit installer builds fine and behaves as specified if attempting to run on...

Re: Not Writing A New Folder If It Exists - Unusual Issue He

I made some changes and now all works. In my old installer from almost 2 years ago, there was no possibility this folder existed on the end-users machine so I had an XYZ folder within my property based folder containing the file. However now if XYZ folder exists, this configuration writes an identic...

Not Writing A New Folder If It Exists - Unusual Issue Here

My installer needs to place a new folder that also includes a file to a pre-installed application. This folder, for example "XYZ" isn't usually a part of the target application on the end users machine, but may have been created by the end user or a competing product's installer. I have no...

Re: Only Install If Folder Exists On End Users Machine?

Thanks Dan....I'll look into it further today. If I can't resolve it, will send the project file.

EDIT: Yes, I forgot to apply the Conditions on the Organization Tab. All works now. Its been a while since we needed to build new installers therefore its easy to forget things. Thanks.

Only Install If Folder Exists On End Users Machine?

I've been using version 8.6 for a while with no issues. I recently updated to 10.1. My installer places files into the plugin folder of Photoshop. There's many versions of Photoshop so I need to be sure it gets installed to the correct one. Using 8.6 I included Properties for the paths of the plugin...

Deleting A File From Previous Install

I'm about to distribute a new version of our software. I would like the installer to delete some files that may or may not be there from an older installation. Exactly how can I do this?

Re: How To Never Remove Or Overwrite A Folder And Its Files?

Looks like I'll have to upgrade tomorrow. Probably a good idea regardless. Just ran into another issue that's quite odd. My installer needs to place a 64bit dll that's a part of my anti-piracy scheme within a folder at the root of C: When I build the installer, it builds with no errors yet the insta...

Re: How To Never Remove Or Overwrite A Folder And Its Files?

In order to achieve this you can follow the steps below: - go in the Files and Folders page, right-click on the folder and select "Properties" - go in the "Operations" tab and select the "Do not overwrite existing files" option Thanks for the reply. I don't see an &quo...

How To Never Remove Or Overwrite A Folder And Its Files?

Once my installer runs for the first time on an end users machine, how can I make sure a specific folder can never be uninstalled by running uninstall programs? Additionally, if the end user runs the installer again, how can I make sure this specific folder is never overwritten with new files by the...

Problems With Changing Files And Building Updated Installer

I have two installers I built a while back using version 8.6 of Advanced Installer. They search for installed versions of Adobe Photoshop and place a few plugins into Adobe Photoshop. They also place a few folders and other files on the end users machine. I didn't want to redo them from scratch so j...
