Failed to install to Documents folder on network path

Hi, I have a user who is unable to install our software, getting an error message "could not access network location". The only files we need to install in this documents location are a demo file for our product, so it is not essential that they are installed (this user is upgrading in any...

"Unexpected error 1610"

Hi, I have a user who is having trouble installing an update to our software. The error he gets is "Server returned unexpected error 1610 attempting to install package ..." The sequence of event is (apparently) as follows: He uninstalled his current version manually via Windows Uninstaller...

Product shortcut name

Hi, This is probably (hopefully!) a very simple question, but I cannot work it out. I have a new project, and the product name is configured in the Product Details tab to how I want to see it in the shortcut menu (also the W8 tile). The problem is that I am not seeing this when the product is instal...

"key not valid in specified state"

I have just issued an application update, and a user has been unable to install due to the following error. I have never seen it before, and (so far) most users seem to be updating OK. This user is using Vista 64 bit. I Googled around a bit, and found a page that suggested that a recent Windows secu...

Re: Installer stays open after upgrade

Daniel, For some reason, after a couple of restarts of AI it worked. I got the latest version. Now I have a new problem. The installer is unable to close my application, and shows a window saying this. It then shows the original "these applications need to be closed" window, with an extra ...

Re: Installer stays open after upgrade

OK I did find "check for updates" but it doesn't do anything - no window of any sort. I am running 11.2 so I would like to upgrade to 11.3, and my plan is apparently valid until 19/07?
thanks,
Matt

Installer stays open after upgrade

Hi, I have a strange problem whereby the installer executable stays open after upgrading. I launch an upgrade by launching the check for updates program from the application. This finds an upgrade, and the installation appears to proceed as normal, with my application closing when requested. Once th...

Re: "path not valid" for updater

FYI - works if I copy the install file elsewhere, but for whatever reason will not work from the original location. Could AI be holding a file handle open somewhere? (I have noticed in the past that the updater doesn't like it if the file is in use, e.g. uploading at the time, but it used to be fine...

"path not valid" for updater

HI, I just updated to 11.2.1 and now get the following error when trying to build an update project: Creating updates... The file path (C:\Users\Matthew\Documents\Advanced Installer\Projects\xxx\Setup Files\xxx1.7.10.0.exe) for Update is not valid. Build finished because an error was encountered. An...

Opening the Edit Path Variables dialog

Hi, I have an AI project that uses a path variable for the root directory of my binaries. This was created some time ago (in v 10) by using the "convert paths" wizard. I now need to change this path variable, but I cannot seem to find out how to open the Edit Path variables dialog (describ...

Re: APPDIR not changing with ProductName

Hi Dan, Thanks for the reply. I ended up creating a new project from scratch, and got it to work. Just for reference, I was using 10.9, and what seemed to be happening was that the changed productname was not being picked up everywhere it should have been. Closing/reopening project etc didn't help, ...

APPDIR not changing with ProductName

Hi, I made a copy of an install project, in order to create an installer for a beta version of our software. The software has the same executable name, but I want it to be installed as a separate application in parallel with our release version. I generated a new product ID and changed the Product n...

Problem solved - thanks anyway. Path variables was what I was looking for - not sure why I couldn't find that earlier when searching through the help..
