Re: Advanced Installer Project Build - temp file location

Ok, that's a shame but thanks very much for your response.

Advanced Installer Project Build - temp file location

Advanced Installer Enterprise 21.3 1. I'm having some issues where during the build process of an executable using an AIP temporary files are created. 2. It seems the temporary file/s are deposited in the same location where the final file will appear. (Set in Builds) 3. We have different locations ...

Re: Signing with Smart Card - Too Many Password Prompts

So from a project view and Digital Signatures Dialogue, where abouts do you store the password in the project once the setting has been enabled? This is because our build process is automated. I have successfully (manually hit the build button) entered the password manually during build and it built...

Re: Folder and contents being deleted at Uninstall

That's ok, i found the problem a couple of days ago. It was specifically to do with a Custom action running at Uninstall time. Based on Powershell - example below. This has been disabled and the uninstall is working normally and leaving new custom files alone now. :) Thanks for your help. # Get APPD...

Re: Folder and contents being deleted at Uninstall

It's not resolved yet Catalin. I'm unable to share the aip and install file due to it's business rules. I guess i could try to be clearer: The installer does the install and produce a number of folders (such as Folder1, Folder2, Folder 3 and Folder 4) with files inside that support our application. ...

Folder and contents being deleted at Uninstall

I have a web applications install which has been in use for some time Advanced Installer 12.7.2 (Which will be updated soon) We have a new problem where one of the folders containing deployed files (by the installer) and a file called CustomerSettings.xml all reside. During the uninstall i would exp...

No Managed Code

I've been working with an installer file for web applications for some years - AI Version 12.7.2 (we will upgrade as some point soon). In the IIS/ Application Pools area we have mainly .Net4.0 selected under .Net Framework Version. There are however 3 of our pools that are using No Managed Code. I'm...

Re: File copy from souce A to location B, C and D.

Hi Catalin, I was able to achieve a solution for copying the files and also removing the files during uninstall by using custom actions. Note that installer won't automatically pull the copied files out during uninstall as they were not put there by the installers normal process. By default they are...

File copy from souce A to location B, C and D.

Currently our installer is around 1GB in size. We want to reduce this by copying a file at install time from one location to three additional locations. The file is 150Mb in size so potentially by not carrying it 4 times inside the installer then we could reduce the installer by 450Mb. So in order t...

Re: Extracting an MSI from the EXE

Please note, i'm using 'Archive installation files using LZMA compression' in the Builds section of the installer.

When i switch it to CAB then it looks ok but i don't want to use CAB.

Extracting an MSI from the EXE

Until recently when we wanted to extract the MSI file from the EXE installer file we would simply do this at the command line and it would be deposited in the folder of choice. This is useful for customisation and testing the installers. C:\>call c:\install\applications\applications.exe /extract &qu...
