Windows Folders

Looking at the GUI there are 4 folder shown below "Windows", they are System 16, System, System 64 and Fonts. First off, what on earth are they? I've never heard of System 16 and Windows no longer supports 16 bit applications. Is System 64 an acronym for SYSWoW64? If not, what is it? If no...

Multiple Folders

Can anyone explain if it is possible, and how, to install files in multiple folders that are at the same level. For example, if I have two folders, C:\A1\DEF\ and C:\B1\XYZ\ and I need to install files in both DEF and XYZ, is that possible with Advanced Installer? I can't find any way to add the fol...

Files/Folder & Upgrades

I'm currently evaluating this product, only just started really so not very knowledgeable yet. I have two questions which are currently stumping me. 1. Files/Folders. I imported an old vb6 project. When I look in this section under “Application Folder” I see all the VB libraries (such as Comdlg32.oc...

Re: System Libraries

Sorry for the double post.
Daniel,
I just tried your suggestion about checking Dependencies, the "Add Dependencies" screen appears but is empty and I don't understand why because it clearly has some (at least the vb6 runtime libraries but there are definitely others).

System Libraries

After the success of my previous question I thought I would try another, although this one is partly question and partly looking for advice. I imported an old VB6 project. Mostly this was very successful except for one thing which is questionable, the various system libraries (some ocx) that the pro...

Re: Default Program

Thanks Daniel.
I can't find a way to mark my question as resolved, but it is.

Re: Updates configuration project imports version number with 4 digits instead of 3

Are you sure this isn't a Windows 'issue' and nothing to do with the installer? I always thought Windows does this automatically. I know for sure that when I build an application where the compiler doesn't allow a 4 digit version code (for example VB6 which only provides 3), I create the exe and loo...

Default Program

I'm trying to associate a file extension (for example .abc) with this application (so that, when the user double-clicks a file with that extension this application is launched and opens the file) but I can't find a way to do it without installing a file with that extension. This is silly, the extens...

Registering Libraries

Hi, I have 3 related questions under this heading. 1. I am trying to locate the folder SYSWOW64. Under Target Computer>Windows there is a folder called System64, is that it? If not, where is it? I've deleted questions 2 and 3 because I just discovered the Properties page which has a tab to define wh...

DLL & OCX

I am still trying to learn this package. I created a new install for a vb6 application. Having scanned the folder and project Advanced Installer did a good job of creating a setup. My 'problem' is that when I look on the Files & Folders tab under Application Folder I see, along with the exe and ...

Re: Upgrade Code

Hello Catlin, Thanks for your reply. Lets see if I understand properly... The Upgrade code shown under "Upgrades" is used to remove the previous version. The Upgrade code under "Product Details" is given to 'this' version (the one being installed by this installer), so I can chan...

Free v Pro

Currently trying to learn this product. I tried to build my incomplete project using the Free version to see how I was doing but I got a message saying something about needing the Pro version rather than the Free one. Subsequent builds haven't generated this message but I suspect it still applies? I...

Upgrade Code

I need to build an install which will first uninstall the existing version. The existing one was installed using Installshield. I have the upgrade guid that was used in that version but when I try to enter it in Advanced Installer I get a message saying " A new upgrade code disables major upgra...
