I'm looking for a way to set IIS compression (static and dynamic) for a website installer. I didn't see the settings anywhere (using latest version 10.6) in IIS settings.
Thanks Dan. I figured out what was going on. I was running the installer from a network drive. Turns out that windows doesn't display the icon when you do that. Running it locally works great!
When our product installer launches we're (correctly) presented with the UAC dialog box and asked if it's OK for the program to make changes. The UAC dialog box correctly shows our digitally signed product name, etc. However, the icon here is a generic 'install' icon. Does anyone know how to make our...
Thanks again Mihai, but that solution doesn't really work as expected. This solution link is an odd workaround, the back button doesn't work and the checkbox is odd. The dialog we want is included in the Surface theme, but it's not displaying. Can you review your Surface Theme for me? Please go to t...
Thanks Mihai. Not sure I'm following this one though, the Operations tab only displays "Overwrite Behavior". I'm not wanting to overwrite the file, I'm wanting to uninstall it during uninstall, but leave it during an upgrade.
Hi Mihai. Thanks for your response. Yes, I'm able to reproduce this on two Windows 8 computers and I just confirmed that a Windows 7 computer is also not receiving the confirmation. I've attached our aip file (which had a basic theme that was converted). Can you tell me what's wrong with this aip fi...
I switched our basic project over to the Surface theme, and now when I click the Uninstall button I don't get a confirmation dialog box. It's computer science 101 to confirm with a user that they want to do something of this magnitude, so this shouldn't have changed... I have not changed any other s...
There's been a change in the logo compliance requirements from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Windows 7 used to let you leave some files around but Windows 8 doesn't. This is a big problem for us because we leave connection string xml files as permanent during an upgrade (which is essentially and uninstall...
Thanks for your prompt response, great suggestion, I will do this (store it in the registry so I can retrieve it later). May I suggest a feature to put this in place? My main goal is to not have our end-users re-enter their serial number upon updating, of which this is a small part, would be nice if...
Hello. I'm trying to get the serial number from the registry *during an update* by using a Custom Behavior - registry search (call it PID_PROPERTY). I have found the serial number by doing a manual search in the registry, it is located at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\User...
Hi Cosmin. Thanks for the response. I'm guessing it was a character set problem but I can't be sure. I opened the file in an xml editor and modified a few lines, undid it, saved it, and the problem went away.
I apoligize if this has been posted. The search feature on the forums site here is broken and won't search on the words 'application' 'install' or 'folder'. Odd bug. We're using the latest AI. Up until I'm not sure how long ago our install would get installed to this folder: [ProgramFilesFolder]OurC...
I posted this a couple of years ago and am finally getting around to redoing our installer. Mostly because there's lots of extra goodies with digitally signing our binaries now (nice work AdvancedInstaller!!). We're packing all of the files into a single exe for simplicity with the initial installat...
