Re: Conditional DLL install Based on Outlook Bitness value

Sorry to resurrect this. Has anyone worked out where the bitness key is for x64 office 365? This may be a red herring, but my standard methods for Office 2010 & 2013 did not work for the Office 2016 preview version. Is this because the preview is using some "non production" registry ke...

Office 2016 Support

I appreciate it's a technical preview - but it is imminent.
When will support for Office 2016 be included?

Windows 8 .NET 2 detection

Anyone know how I can detect in the Windows 8 preview software(s) whether .NET 2 is active? .NET 3.5 (&3 & 2) come preinstalled on Windows 8 along with .NET 4.5, however one needs to activate earlier versions of .NET within program management. The problem I have is that the standard .NET 2 a...

Re: Registering a DLL for Excel x64

OK - to further clarify, I have got round all the setting up issues. I have the 2 folders, both contain the dll & tlb. One folder is set at 64 bit, one not. Both dlls are set to auto-register. When I install however it always appears to register as 32 bit, not 64 bit. I have no idea what I am do...

Re: Registering a DLL for Excel x64

To clarify, I can't seem to add "auto register file" when not in the system folder.

Re: Registering a DLL for Excel x64

I've tried your suggestions - which make sense - but I can't get the dll to register or code base on the 64bit side. I must be missing something simple.
Is it to do with the COM side and the CLSID that creates?

Re: Registering a DLL for Excel x64

OK so I found the external tools - how do I specify one for 32bit and one for 64 bit?

Registering a DLL for Excel x64

I have a dll which will work for both 64bit & 32bit Excel. I have it set to autoregister and have added the type library. It installs lovely on 32 bit, but whilst it installs and "so say" registers on 64 bit, it doesn't work in Excel. I can then manually register the file using 64bit R...

PatchCache

Not sure what I have done, but half of the dlls etc.. I would expect to see in system32 have started turning up in C:\Windows\Installer\$PatchCache$\Managed\
Anyone any ideas how to go back?

Extended Search - 64 bit registry

I am trying to upgrade an application to work on a 64 bit machine - but my extended searches for "registry key exists" seem to be only for 32 bit registries. How can i get them to search in the 64bit registry?

Re: Registry Permissions

I need to give the USERS full control, as they are set as standard as READ only. By amending the key it allows dual monitors to be used for Excel applications so 2 Excel sheets can be opened at once, one per monitor. Unfortunately Microsoft Office resets the key value (not the permissions) under SYS...

Registry Permissions

I am trying to amend the registry permissions for certain keys within the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder. For EXCEL.SHEET.12, I am trying to enable FULL CONTROL for all USERS on the OPEN key and subkeys. I have set the permissions at the EXCEL.SHEET.12 level, the SHELL level, and the OPEN level. On instal...

OK, think I've sorted it using an inline VBS on the APPDIR to get the drive letter.

Re: Create Folder on Target Drive

Did everything you stated, and not working for me.
Keeps trying to install my "temp" folder on the network.

I feel I am missing a step - notably the step that obtains the drive letter.
I keep thinking this should be really simple.
