Re: Custom Launch Condition

Hi, I can't replicate it on our test machine (a clean virtual install of XP); but every other XP machine that has had the installer run on it and that has required WI 4.5 has seen the error. Obviously it is not acceptable to show our customers an exception message while installing our software. Rega...

Re: Custom Launch Condition

Hi, I realise that they are always executed but the 'Check predefined launch conditions before searching for prerequisites' option is not worded very well; as it is refering to predefined and custom condition (that was what I was asking). It would be very usefult to chose per condition when it shoul...

Custom Launch Condition

Hi, When should the custom launch conditions be evaluated? Does this depend on the 'Check predefined launch conditions before searching for prerequisites' option? We have an installer that applies WI 4.5 and .NET 2.0 as prerequisites (WI 4.5 requires a re-start); has custom launch conditions of XP S...

Re: Prerequisites Required

Cosmin,

Where do we edit the forms exposed by the full bootstrapper UI?

Prerequisites Required

Hi, We would like there to be the option of showing the user which global prerequisites are required and will be installed before they are installed and also if a re-start will be required (the check box to force a re-start). This would allow the user to continue or cancel the installation. Currentl...

Re: Install SQL Express as a Feature

SQL 2008 Express never installs successfuly from the AI installer as a custom action. Running the SQL 2008 Express installer manually works correctly. I said 'root process', not process. Our bootstrapper is running as an administrator. The error message in the log is: 2009-11-04 12:52:16 Slp: ------...

Re: Install SQL Express as a Feature

This does not work on XP, Vista or Windows 7. We need a solution for this, how did you get it to work when you tested it?

Re: Install SQL Express as a Feature

It appears that the SQL installer is running from a different root process than when we run it from the command line. I belive this is why it will not install correctly. I take it that this was checked as a valid aproach for chaining installs before it was suggested?

Re: Install SQL Express as a Feature

This aproach does not appear to work. If I call the installer directly from the command line (elevated to admin) then I can install SQL 2008 x64, but the custom action always fails. Why would this be happening?

Re: Another instance of setup is already running

Nothing running on the Windows 7 machine prior to the re-start! Had been idle for over an hour!

Re: Custom Action Command Line

When I set the command line originally I was able to paste in my command line with then showed up in full! So it looks like there was a change in the software as I now can't past in my command line.

Re: Another instance of setup is already running

I've seen this on a freshly re-started Windows 7 machine! Looks like a bug in Active Installer. I imagine that windows installer runs some checks at OS startup.

Custom Action Command Line

The custom action command line is not long enough to install SQL 2008. Why would you limit this?

This field has now lost a whole load of our command line which took a long time to configure as there is no notice of limitation to the field size!

Re: Install SQL Express as a Feature

Hi, We need the ability to only include the custom action in certain builds for the same reason that prerequisits can be turned off for some builds, 3rd party installers are too big to be included in a lightweight web based installer. As custom actions are the only way to install third party softwar...
