Re: Path variables

Ok. So using path variables *forces* to it use a path variable, even if the file is in the project root. Because there is no path variable defined for the project root, it uses WindowsVolume. It took awhile to find the Path Variables dialog, but now I see what's already defined. Thanks for the quick...

Path variables

I've been using AI for several years now and there's one thing that I've never understood. Let's say I create a new project. All the source files will be located here: C:\SourceFiles So, I set this path as the Project Root Path and I enable Path Variables. When I drag files into the installer, it tr...

Re: Changing Shortcut working directory based

Thank you. Took several tries, but got it working. The key was to place the custom actions after the Paths Resolution action. For anyone who finds this, below are the steps I did, which may not necessarily be the best, but they worked for me. Change names to whatever. Create property: SHORTCUT_WORKI...

Changing Shortcut working directory based

I want to change the working directory of a shortcut based on the build. Normally it will be PersonalFolder, but for one build it will be a subdirectory of the PublicDocumentsFolder. I haven't found a way to do this at build time. Do I have to create a custom action to set this property based on whe...

Re: OS version message

Is there something that would cause the order of these checks to be different? Both have 64-bit only set for the package type and both have only 64-bit operating systems selected in the launch conditions. I noticed the older install gets further into the process before failing. I believe it fails af...

OS version message

I have version 3 and version 4 of a product. Both are 64-bit only. V3 was originally built with AI 8.3 and was upgraded over the years to 11.7.1. When run on a 32-bit system, I get the following warning: [Window Title] Windows Installer [Main Instruction] This installation package is not supported b...

Re: MSVS 2013 repair dialog with every MSI built

For anyone who finds this, the most recent dll's still work for fixing this:

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\bin\x86\mergemod.dll"
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\bin\x86\mergemod.dll"

Re: MSVS 2013 repair dialog with every MSI built

Sorry, didn't get a notification. No, this is not a clean machine. Everything was working fine, but this problem started up again today. I installed VS 2013 Update 4 last week, so that is likely what triggered it.

Re: Modified StartMenuShortcutsDlg

Could you detail the steps needed for the desktop shortcut? I am having a similar issue. The desktop shortcut is the only one the user should be able to toggle. However, I didn't want to add a dialog for just one checkbox. When I copy the checkbox to another dialog, unchecking it has no effect; the ...

Re: MSVS 2013 repair dialog with every MSI built

I installed VS 2013 today and encountered the same problem. I used the same solution when I had this problem a few years ago (registering mergemod.dll):

I have several copies of this DLL, but just used the same one as before.

Re: Icon missing in maintenance dialog

I had forgotten about that. Our installation has nothing to modify, so the button didn't make sense. Thanks.
