Re: Automate Advanced Installer with Ant

Hi Cosmin! That's indeed a nice feature. That's something we may be using on some cases, however it does require checkout/checkin for each build to VCS to be accurate on multiple building environments, and to avoid constant modification on the AI project, we chose to have "dynamic" autoinc...

Re: Automate Advanced Installer with Ant

Hi! We built in-house solution to get ever-increasing build numbers for the build number portion beyond major number. It is based on accuracy of one minute from some-odd date of year 2000, and it lasts somewhere around 2031 or something like that. We didn't find any cleaner way to implement it, but ...

Re: IIS Application Pool

Hi! Also want to add following wishes on quite urgent: the way to determine ASP.NET version on IIS. Also the ability not to delete the website at uninstallation would be nice, I couldn't find one, if it exists. As of now the workaround is manually change the asp.net on first install, however when pe...

Re: IIS Application Pool

Hi Cosmin! Any ETA on when this feature might be available? Checked back to InstallShield where we moved from (no, not missing anything really and not going back), it has on this area clean Application Pool and Web Site concept available, that allows management/creation of Application Pools with spe...

Re: Unable to register version 6.6 with Valid license

Hi! We've experienced the same and got some responses with the support to let us get around the case. Basically it's caused by some networking issue, that prevents the program to check its license. Usually it finds its way, but in case where you might have VPN connection established (this is the cas...

Re: Concurrent / Floating License / License Server model

While concurrent licensing is nice to have, I hope you keep also the current pure per-developer licensing as-is. We have equal level developers and on some products we have had to go for "unnecessary" concurrency, when the products start to limit how all our "named users" can use...

Re: Updater fails with equal sized update (even with MD5)

Hi! Thank you for providing first class support through these forums :-). Relating to this (and why I preferred using the same tag name), is there an option to clear out cached downloads? Using the same tagname would overwrite the old one, now they start to cumulate. Full uninstall gets rid of them ...

Re: Updater fails with equal sized update (even with MD5)

Hi! Ok, thanks for the fast response, that will likely solve the issue. However this then leaves open how come the current implementation accepts the old file, that does not match the MD5? If the sizes differ, it re-downloads it and everything works, but if just the MD5s not match, it happily procee...

Re: Updater fails with equal sized update (even with MD5)

To emphasize the matter more, during small adjustments (that often turn out to be very important validity checks) even to the assemblies that change the file sizes, we are really often producing exactly same size of the msi package. This in turn means that the updater while detecting the correct upd...

Updater fails with equal sized update (even with MD5)

I just discovered after some testing that the updater doesn't download the update (despite the different MD5 signature in the update file) if the file with same name and same size is found in local download location. This means that if updater tries update the newer version of a package that would h...
