Re: Doc clarification: 'Framework Prerequisite'

Hello, Indeed, I have noticed as well that the documentation regarding framework prerequisites is quite slim and I have created a task so this can be improved in the future. The "framework" option is meant for some prerequisites which are more "troublesome" by design. One example...

Re: Discrepancies between exe and MSI build

Hello Matthew and welcome to our forums, Please note that the Surface theme (the one that you are using) requires a features called "Enhanced User Interface" which itself requires the use of an EXE setup. That being said, that's why your MSI UI looks quite malformed, because the Windows In...

Re: Installer not picking up changes in csproj file

Hello Kraig, Thank you very much for your followup on this and for sharing the details with me. It looks like I was indeed missled by the fact that it worked on the first try, which led me to not try a second time. I've tested this again and can confirm the behavior. I have forwarded it to our dev t...

Re: Can't finish - build error

Hello, Thank you for your followup on this. As you mentioned, this indeed seems to be happening because BitDefender keeps the file in use during the build process. What you have done (whitelist the EXE) is indeed the correct approach. On top of that, I would advise scanning the EXE after the build p...

Re: Updater GitHub Integration throws 0xE000000C

Hello Goran, Thank you very much for providing the resources and I apologize for the quite delayed reply. Upon further tests and investigations, I think I managed to find the culprit here. Our updater.exe is a 32-bit process and by default, when checking for the condition (in our case a registry sea...

Re: Remote install freeze at AI_VerifyPrereq

Hello and welcome to our forums, In order for me to further test and investigate this, could you please forward me a more detailed test-case? From my understanding so far: - I need to remotely invoke msiexec to install an MSI on a VM - that MSI need to have a prerequisite Is this all? I'm mostly ask...

Re: second pre-req UI comes up behind pre-req dialog

Hello,

Thank you very much for providing the sample project.

I have tested this and I was indeed able to reproduce the issue on my end.

I have now forwarded this to our dev team and it should be fixed in a future version of Advanced Installer.

Best regards,
Catalin

Re: Add file to 3rd Party "Program Files" Folder

Hello Simon and welcome to our forums, In order for the file to be installed in the 64-bit Program Files folder, here's how you could proceed: - go to "Files and Folders" page - right click on your file --> "Go to Component" - mark the component as 64-bit Hope this helps! Best re...

Re: AzureDO: Setting Sync Folder In Pipeline

Thank you for your followup on this, Bryan. Glad you managed to find the culprit. Yes, the resources are indeed removed between "stages", this is something I encountered too some time ago. :) If there's anything else I could help you with, please let me know and I will gladly do so. Best r...

Re: Installer not picking up changes in csproj file

Hello Kraig, I apologize for the delayed reply. I've tested this scenario as per your instructions and everything seemed to be working fine on my end: Screenshot_127.png Here's what I did: - built the VS project first - buit the AI project after - took the MSI and copied it on my VM - ran the MSI an...

Re: updated .net release prerequisites

Hello, As you mentioned, sometimes it is hard to keep up with the speed at which these packages are released, despite trying our best. If you want to add the latest version to your Advanced Installer project, you can proceed similarly to how you mentioned: - add the newer version manually as a prere...

Re: No automatic save at Build

Hello guys, As a followup and for whoever will stumble accross this in the future, the solution is to use the . AIC file, where you have to specifically use the /Save parameter in order to save the project. The project will not be modified by the edit commands specified in an AIC file. The Save comm...

Re: No automatic save at Build

Hello,

Unfortunately this has not yet been added.

However, I have increased the ticket's priority and hopefully it will be implemented in a future version of Advanced Installer.

Best regards,
Catalin
