Re: UI Installation not showing Multiple Instance Dialog / Silent working

Hi Andreas, I've tested the scenario and, indeed, I've reproduce the problem. This issue seems to appear when the "Use WinUI rendering" option is enabled in the "Themes" page, "Settings" tab. A fix will be available for this in a future version of Advanced Installer. Th...

Re: SQL Query Custom Action Bug?

Hi John,

I'm not sure why this happens. Can you please send me your AIP (project file) to our support email address so I can investigate it?

Best regards,

Re: Why use pre-install vs feature-based prerequisite for NET 6 desktop runtime

Hi, Hi, I was playing with the new installer wizard and used the NET Framework option. The resulting installer put the NET Framework 4.8 prerequisite under the pre-install section of the Prerequisite page, whereas when I manually add a NET 6 Desktop Runtime prerequisite (in other projects), AI alway...

Re: SetAzureKeyVaultSecret no longer works with version 20.2

Hello,

This issue was fixed in Advanced Installer version 20.2.1 that has just been released. Can you test it and see if everything works as expected?

Re: Shortcut to updater only being created for 32bit

Hello Federica, Thank you for sending us your project file. I've looked over it and I noticed that the updater executable and its shortcut are only added in the "64-bit" feature from the "Organization" page. For example, if you select the shortcut file in the "Files and Fold...

Re: Upgrade or Patch with multiple instances

Hi, I apologize for the delayed reply. The question is, 5 instances means 5 instances on total, not for each version I install, isn't it? In my case, I set up 5 instances and when I reach the 6th installation, it only let me upgrade an instance, not install a new one. So I guess it's n instances in ...

Re: Upgrade or Patch with multiple instances

Hi, So, in the case you have explained before, I guess I can install as much instances as I defined in the installer. Yes, you're right. You can install the number of instances you defined plus the main instance. But, related to the creation of instances, is it possible to specify the "instance...

Re: Best practice: Execute SQL scripts based on version

Hello and welcome to our forums.

Indeed, the properties are compared as strings and they cannot be compared as versions, unfortunately. In this case, the workaround you found, which requires a new search for each script, is the best option.

Re: How can I configure install dialogs from command line?

Hello,

I'm afraid that the dialogs cannot be edited from the command line, we do not have support for this. They can only be edited from the Advanced Installer GUI.

Re: "Abort Installation" causes uninstallation

Hi Colin and welcome to our forums. I'm afraid that this is the Windows Installer normal behavior. During an upgrade, the uninstall of the old version and the install of the new version are done in two separate sessions, thus if the install session fails, it is rolled back, but it is impossible to r...

Re: Upgrade or Patch with multiple instances

Hello, In order to achieve what you want, you need to manually add more instances in the "Multiple Instances" page of your project and set the "Build major upgrades for multiple instances" option. However, please keep in mind that multiple instances are not compatible with patche...

Re: File missing in cabinet when installing msp

Hi Mike,

Yes, this is correct. For every patch you create, you need to make sure that no rule is broken in order to avoid unexpected problems.

Re: File missing in cabinet when installing msp

Hi Mike, Indeed, the build log shows that the sequence was changed for some files and this may be the source of the problem. Different problems may appear if any of the patch rules is broken. Even if the 2.5.1 patch worked, you need to make sure no rule is broken and recreate both patches in order f...

Re: IMPORTANT: Some DLLs installed to the incorrect place

Hi Zsolt, I'm afraid that this was not addressed yet. The solution is not straightforward and the development team hasn't decided yet the best way to solve this because they were busy with other issues that they are working on. I hope that this will be fixed soon. Thank you for your patience! Best r...
