Re: Search Folder On All Drives

Hi, I tested your scenario and when a search for folder is performed on 32-bit systems no problems were encountered. Indeed, it seems to be a problem when searches, with search depth grater than 1, are performed on 64-bit systems. Unfortunately this is a Windows Installer problem because the searche...

Re: Creating registry keys on 64 bit os

Hi Igor, A registry component, from a 32-bit package, that is marked as "64-bit component" will be installed both, on a 32-bit system and on a 64-bit system, in its corresponding location. Although this scenario violate ICE80 Windows Installer validation rule, until now no problems were encountered....

Re: Running .exe as Custom Action

Hi, I am trying to run an executable via a custom action that relies on some temporary files to execute. For some reason, I have been unable to get the SQL Scripts to run using Advanced Installers "SQL Scripts" built in features (I'm going to post a separate thread about this if I can't solve the pr...

Re: Support for vbs scripts

Hi, As you can see in our article Packages Types the "ProgramFiles64Folder" from a 32 bit package is resolved to "C:\Program Files (x86)\" location on a 64-bit platform. Please keep in mind that if you want the "ProgramFiles64Folder" to be resolved to "C:\Program Files\" location on a 64-bit platfor...

Re: Creating registry keys on 64 bit os

Hi Igor, Please keep in mind that on a 64-bit system the registry entries installed by a 32-bit application are created under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node" key. You can see our article about the Wow6432Node registry entry. To install a registry entry on a 64-bit system under "HKEY_LO...

Re: Enable control, dependant on choice in combo box

Hi, If you want to achieve this you can proceed as follows: Select the control that you want to be enabled or disabled depending on what ComboBox item is selected. Now add two control conditions, from "Control Conditions" tab and edit them as follows: CONDITION : COMBOBOX <> VALUE ACTION : Disable C...

Re: Support for vbs scripts

Hi, Our "Freeware" version of Advanced Installer, as you can see in our features list , doesn't implement "Custom Actions" feature that includes execution of VBScript. If you need this you must have at least a "Professional" version of Advanced Installer. You can upgrade your Advanced Installer vers...

Re: Check for new version online before install question

Hi, 1. Can the installer check for a new MSI before installing? The documentation for the updates.ini seems to require size or hash checking of an already installed file. If you want to achieve this you can enable the Deployment -> Media -> Bootstrapper -> Check for a newer version of the installati...
