Re: Installing problem ACCESS_VIOLATION

Ok well just heard from the user again and they were able to fix it by turning off their antivirus. Not sure if that helps figure out what it was or not but if there is anything I can get from them that would help locate this issue I can ask them...

Re: Installing problem ACCESS_VIOLATION

User says they get this every time... Is there a way to send you something from his machine to see what's going on?

Re: Installing problem ACCESS_VIOLATION

I will add to this. I just got this from a customer of mine running Win7 Pro 64bit. Trace is not exactly the same but very close. This is running in AI 13.1. Here is the stack: The application ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle. Sorry for the inconvenience. [SEH_AV_DEP_BADPTR] ACCESS_VIOLATI...

Force uninstall

I have a user that seems to have my product stuck on their system and it won't update to the new build or uninstall, it just shows an error when you run the install at all. I have tried searching around for fixes and found out it could be a custom action failing. On some sites it showed that you can...

Re: command line option for features?

Ok well I'm not sure if it's the best way or not but I solved my problem. I created an install parameter called REVIT2014 and set it's value to 1 as I want it on by default. Then in the organization screen I can select the feature and put it's default to 'Installed'; then in the 'Disabled if:' entry...

command line option for features?

I have looked around and can't find an answer here. What is the command line switch (if there is one) to turn a feature on or off for a silent install? For instance I have a feature named 'Revit 2014'. I have tried passing Revit2014="false" and updating to all caps in both the command line...

Re: Useful to have option to get Product Version from main .exe

yes I see that now, it's just no obvious from the UI that it's there as it just looks like a text box and I didn't think to right click it. Maybe there could be a button on the right that says 'from file' or something like that...

Re: Useful to have option to get Product Version from main .exe

You guys need to advertise that this is available better! This is one of those small but amazing features! it's not obvious on the UI that you can do this, and it took me a little googling to find it but once I did I was very pleased :)

Re: Upgrade builds of current version

Sorry just getting back to this. So you have to increase the version? I just want a new build of the project, like 2.0 to 2.0, is that possible? I guess I could do 2.0.01 or something, but the problem there is that I am using an MSI name like: COBie Extension [|ProductVersion] Setup ([|RevitVersion]...

Upgrade builds of current version

I periodically come out with new builds of my software (bug fixes, graphic updates, etc.) that don't require a new product version, just a new build. I would like the installer to remove the existing build and then install the new one, but I can't figure out how to do that. I thought I was doing it ...

Re: MSI looks terrible...

argh, ok. So what about silent install? Should I just build an msi that is not intended to run dialogs for silent install with switches only?

MSI looks terrible...

I am pretty new with Advanced Installer. I'm trying to get my install using the surface white theme with some customizations and overall it's working pretty well. However I would like to build both EXE and MSI projects for this installer. When I set it to 'single EXE' on the builds page it looks gre...

Re: How do I change this color?

I know this is an old topic but has this changed? I'm in 12.7 and would like to change the background color for the surface theme but this method doesn't seem to be working... For one when I go to set the property on the 'Set Installer Property' action and press the ellipsis button to select a prope...

Re: Change folder path for 'just me' option

Ok I was able to solve this one myself, though part of it is a bit hackish. Turns out you need to use the actual value in the condition even though it's true/false. So I changed my condition to AI_INSTALL AND (AI_InstallPerUser = "1") and that seems to work. However it still changes the de...
