Re: Custom Install Paths and Major Upgrades

Hello, Could you go into a little more detail on when this issue might occur? I went back and verified that this was allowed in AI 14.3 (we recently upgraded from). We had made heavy use of the ability to make these properties public (all caps). Changing to property-based folders would be a signific...

Re: Persistent properties during update don't seem to be persistent.

Hello Phill, I'm not quite sure which situation i am in, but i think there might be something i've changed or misconfigured. No worries, we will figure this out. If i go to the registry page in AI I only have entries for current user > software > manufacturer > productName. This contains "versi...

Hello and welcome to Advanced Installer forums,

I am not quite sure I understand your scenario here.

Could you please give me some more details about what you want to achieve (maybe exemplify)?

Best regards,

Re: File Permissions

Hello and welcome to Advanced Installer forums, Please keep in mind that the WindowsApps folder, the one where you are placing your configuration file, is a heavily protected folder with very restrictive permissions. By default, none of your scenarios should be possible. It should not be possible fo...

Re: unable to execute the embeded application

Hello,

That error is an error thrown by the SQL Server installer itself. Unfortunately, I can not say why this happens.

Is the installation successful on a 64-bit machine?

If so, please make sure that you are not using an x64 bit installer.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Re: Uninstall does not remove service executable

Hello Joseph, You are always welcome! I am glad my explanation was helpful to you. In what regards your second issue, I can not say for sure why this happens. I bumped the patch version By this, do you mean that you have created a patch and applied it to your already installed setup (after which, th...

Re: multi-language Exe not select the best option based on machine configuraiton

Hello, When using the "Automatically use current user language for installation" option, the language returned by the "GetUserDefaultLangID()" function is preferred by the installer. This function returns the language identifier for the current user as set under Control Panel -->...

Re: Installation rollback when "Default Web Site" is missing

Hello Zsolt, We do indeed make our own search in what regards the "Default Web Site", but unfortunately we do not save the result anywhere (in a property), therefore I'm afraid we cannot use this as a condition. In this scenario, we will have to go with a custom approach. In our custom act...

Re: Installer fails with 'Are you sure you want to cancel the installation?'

Hello Gerry, From what I see in the sigcheck.exe results, none of your .EXE or .MSI files are signed. Question: Is there a way extract the .MSI file from the executable itself, to run sigcheck on it? Yes. You can extract the MSI file out of your EXE file by running the following command line: setup....

Re: upgrading service now shows two versions in programs and features

You are always welcome, Mike!

I am really sorry this took so long, but as you have noticed yourself, it was really hard to find and isolate the behavior.

Anyway, I am really glad we managed to find the culprit and get this working.

Best regards,

Re: Uninstall does not remove service executable

Hello Joseph and welcome to Advanced Installer forums, Indeed, the explanation of why this happens can be found in the article you've linked. Our theory is that throughout the different installs/uninstalls, at one point something got botched and windows still thinks there's a separate resource that ...
