Re: Progress bar not moving while installing prerequisite?

Hello, There is no way for the main installer to know how much the prerequisite's install has progressed, which is why the main installer's progress bar does not move past 0%. The prerequisites should show some kind of basic progress. Configuring your .net install to install with a basic user interf...

Re: XML Elements

Hi Glenn, The documentation refers to removing XML elements during uninstall. We will update it to reflect that you can not currently remove elements at install time. However we also have this feature on our todo list and will be implemented in a future version of Advanced Installer. Best regards, G...

Re: Which Custom Action to use for backup?

Hi Dashut,

For this, simply place your custom action doing the backup before the RemoveFiles standard action. Condition it with REMOVE="ALL". Thus, it should be executed before RemoveFiles.

Re: Setting a Radio button property using msiexec

Hi Glenn, Create two Property Set with Formatted custom actions, each setting MY_PROPERTY to one of your two values. Condition both custom actions using the RADIO_GROUP property, so that only one of these two custom actions execute depending on whether their condition is true or false. Best regards,...

Re: Run custom action before files are removed by uninstall

Hello, "Failed loading dll" by regsvr32 as the tool is ran after the "Standard Remove Files action" and so the dll to be unregistered is already deleted. The UnpublishComponents standard action is normally before the RemoveFiles standard action. Since you said you placed it under...

Re: Setting a Radio button property using msiexec

Hi Glenn,

You can use a Property Set with Formatted custom action to set the property of MY_PROPERTY to the value of RADIO_GROUP. Let me know if it helps.

Gabriel

Re: Where is the user startup folder?

Hello, The issue lies with the fact that your Install Parameters->Installation Type field is set to "Per machine if admin, per user otherwise". If you are installing it per-machine, the startup folder will evaluate to a per-machine location, which means the "all users" folder. A ...

Re: How do I write (or update) \etc\hosts file?

Hello Doug,

Simply make sure your installer is running elevated. On the Install Parameters page, did you make sure the installation is "Per machine only"?.

Re: Adding Retry Ignore and Cancel

Hi Dashut, Windows Installer does not have that ability. We also did not consider implementing something like that since the feature was never requested. You can instruct the bootstrapper to always launch the msi with a log, then have a custom action make it accessible to the user, something like a ...
