Re: AVG 13.0.0 reports trojan in installer

Well this was AVG's response....

The detection of provided file by AVG was incorrect, and we can confirm that the file is safe. The detection was removed in a recent AVG update.

However its clearly not correct so i've replied with screenshots so hopefully they'll have a rethink!

Thank you for your feedback. We believe that it is a good practice to scan the binary files every release and send whitelist request whenever a false positive file is detected.
gcamley wrote:This is getting stranger. Maybe it is an AVG bug.
When Windows Explorer has the folder open that contains the ExternalsUI.exe then AVG immediately reports it and removes it. However if Windows Explorer is not viewing the file and I scan the file then AVG says it is fine but as soon as I open the folder again with Windows Explorer then AVG again warns and removes the file. Seems AVG is remembering that the file was suspect and not recording that it is no longer suspect
Thank you for your feedback. We have tested your scenario but cannot reproduce this issue with the latest AVG database.

Best regards,
Sorin

I had a response from AVG, they have now fixed it on their latest release, i've tested and can confirm that to be the case.

This problem persists and is causing disruption to our business.
Are Caphyon looking into this problem?

Re: AVG 13.0.0 reports trojan in installer

I have a video that shows that after removing ExternalUI.exe a repair results in AVG immediately flagging the file.

The zipped AVI is 43MB, too large to attach.

You should submit the file here, http://www.avg.com/gb-en/whitelist they fixed mine pretty quickly.

Can you please send us a download link to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate it? If you don't have a web server to host the file, please contact us by email and we will send you the login information of our FTP server, where you could upload the video.

Best regards,

For the record I contacted AVG and they confirmed there was no virus and corrected their DB in a new update and now the builds are working again
