We are getting quite consistent reports that this issue is occurring regularly for us.
Would it be possible to get the description of the condition(s), under which this folder is created and files are moved there?
Another side effect of this issue is that the follow-up installation happens into the folder cL\ai_recyclebin\GUID\0\ProductName.
Is there any additional logging that can be enabled to help diagnose the issue?
Using AI 21.7.1.

Hello,
As previously discussed, this folder it's an internal Advanced Installer recycle bin and is used by our file/folder removal mechanism from "Files and Folders" page. It's a temporary folder used to store files that will be removed from disk.
The "file removal" is noted in the "Files and Folders" page with a red X sign.
If you can manage to constantly reproduce this on your end, please forward me by email at support at advancedinstaller dot com:
- a copy of the AIP file
- a download link for the setup
so I can run some tests and see whether I can also reproduce this.

Yes, it's understood this is an implementation detail of the Advanced Installer.
It just would be good to understand how/why/when it is used. Is it always used? Sometimes?
It would be great if a failure to remove the folder was logged into the log file (to ease QA automation, for example).
The reproducible case is very difficult to come up with, as the issue seems to be pretty random.

Hello,
No, the folder is not always used - it's only used for cleanup purposes (including file/folder removal).
Another possible cause would be the "Do not overwrite existing file" option.
If you somehow manage to reproduce this in a sample, please forward that to me so I can further investigate this on our end and possibly fix it.
