Re: Upgrade problem [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR]

Hello,

I'm not sure why you are encountering this behavior. Can you reproduce the behavior on multiple clean machines? If so, can you attach the verbose log of the installation so we can investigate it?

All the best,
Daniel

Hi,
Yes, i can reproduce it on clean XP windows. There are no any installation log, because installation is not started, its just preparing.
I think it problem in UI settings (my custom dialog), when i changed some condition-action on initialize in my custom dialog i had this error

Code: Select all

We are also seeing this on one of our installers, i had orignally put it down to a bad build, but a rebuild didnt fix it, will send our verbose log to support

Re: Upgrade problem [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR]

Hello,

@DimasSup:
Yes, i can reproduce it on clean XP windows. There are no any installation log, because installation is not started, its just preparing.
If the "WelcomeDlg" dialog appears, then you can create a verbose log of the installation.

Also, can you please send us your custom dialog resource files from your repository location, your .AIP (project file) and a verbose log to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate it and try to reproduce the behavior?

@FergusMurray:
Can you also please send us your .AIP (project file) to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate it?

All the best,

Re: Upgrade problem [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR]

Hello,

I'm afraid that in order to investigate the above stack traces, we also need the setup files which generate this behavior. So, can you please send us the related setup file to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate them?

All the best,
Daniel

Re: Upgrade problem [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR]

Hello,

@DimasSup:

This seems to be an issue of version 9.4 of Advanced Installer. A fix will be available in our next version of Advanced Installer (9.5) which will be very soon, thank you for bringing it to our attention. If you cannot wait until then, please contact us at support at advancedinstaller dot com and we will send you a release candidate.

All the best,
Daniel

Re: Upgrade problem [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR]

Hi,

We are still seeing this issue very periodically but I would like to narrow it down. For us, I believe it also seems to be during upgrade. Is this still a known issue?

We are using AI 11.3.

Any update is appreciated.

Re: Upgrade problem [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR]

Hello,

In order to try find out a resolution to this kind of issue we need to be able to replicate it on our side (even it is replicating randomly). What we need is a pattern or a test case which replicates the issue (even with a low rate).

So, can you try to isolate the issue into a sample and send it us alongside a test case which replicates the behavior with some consistency?

All the best,
Daniel

Re: Upgrade problem [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR]

I will see if I can track down any reproducible scenarios. I have not seen it myself but my understanding is that it is not frequent and is resolved by re-running the install.

Re: Upgrade problem [SEH_AV_READ_BADPTR]

Looks like the problem still persists - my project was working fine - then after the upgrade - i made some changes to my file and its broken - i will try to make a new project from scratch - but this was a lot of work to make - i don't think i can wait for a long time - so im just reporting

Hello and welcome to our forums,

Can you please send us by email to support at advancedinstaller dot com the .AIP (setup project) file together with a test case which I can follow in order to reproduce the problem?

Best regards,
Liviu
