Backup before install and overwriten files

I need to make the backup of the existing files BEFORE the new files are copied over and restore AFTER AI has done its job
- The existing application uses other SW than AI
- We do 3:d part adaptions to an existing application.
- We are planning to use the Proffesional version of AI
- Usage of external backup/restore script to backup/restore files at installation/removal

It seems like we could do the job at the "CostInitialize" point though then it doesn't seems to be any script file awailable from the msi.
If we move the job to the"install" section we gets the new files (the old is alredy lost)

So our questions are:
- At installation can't me make an reference to a script in the SOURCEDIR before the file is copied for the first time?
- How to garantee that we manage to make backup BEFORE and restore AFTER AI has done its own stuff?
