(Re)start Explorer after installation

Hello,

I use the AI 7.1.3 corporate.
for the installation the explorer needs to be shut down. Though I am restarting it at the end of the installation.
But in case the user has no privileges to install software, the installation is executed with the administrator account, though the explorer is started with the administor account and not the user account.

Any solution for that?

Hello,

To run a custom action under the same user context as the setup package was launched you should add it after "InstallExecuteSequence -> Install -> Before Finaliztion -> InstallFinalize" standard action. So, can you try to add your restart explorer custom action after the "InstallFinalize" standard action and see if this helped?

All the best,
Daniel

Re: (Re)start Explorer after installation

I still have the problem, that restarting the explorer at the end of the installation start it as administartor (on some machines).

So my idea is to start an application at the start of the installation (running in the background) and waiting for a registry key.
So I need to set a registry key at the end of the installation. How to do that?
I see that somehow a vbs script can be executed in the custom action, but I only see "Function name" but no way to enter the script or add the vbs file.
Please help.
thanks, Chris

Re: (Re)start Explorer after installation

Hello Chris,

To run a VBS custom action you can either create manually the VBS file and launch it through a "Launch attached file" custom action type or you can use an "Execute inline script code" custom action type and define the custom action VBS code directly from our "Custom Actions" page.

If you have any questions or doubts just let us know.
