Only non-system folders and public properties can be selected

Fri Mar 16, 2018 4:18 am

Hi all,

I am trying specify a target directory for a feature. The target folder for the feature should be a sub-folder of the APPDIR. So I created a feature, clicked the [...] button right to the the "Directory" input box. A dialog appears that asks me to select a folder. I create a new folder, select it, click [Ok] and get the above-mentioned following message.

I tried to choose all folders one by one, but got the same message. Why is that? For me it looks like it is impossible to specify a target folder at all, as all the choices I can make lead to the same message. What does this message mean?

Additionally, what is a "system folder" and what is a "non-system folder" from the point of view of AdvancedInstaller?

Hi and welcome to Advanced Installer forums.

In order to be able to select a folder for a feature, you need to create it as a property-based folder. Some examples of "system folders" are the following: Windows, system32, Program Files, etc.

Let me know if you have other questions.
