In attempting to update, it does not uninstall the current version before attempting to install the the update. So it fails.
What setting do I have not set right?

Hello and welcome to our forums,
Can you make sure that the "Uninstall old version first and then install new version" option is checked from the "Upgrades" page?
Also, can you please give us some more details about this (maybe exemplify)?

I have that option checked. But it does not uninstall the old version. It tries to install the new version. So it fails. It all works if I Uncheck product with Windows Installer. But that leaves no way to uninstall the product manually
