Advanced Installer inside a Docker Image

Tue Mar 19, 2019 3:47 am

My builds run inside a Docker container, into which I installed and registered my copy of Advanced installer. However, when a build runs, it fails, and I get this message:

Warning - License file is invalid
Advanced Installer has detected an invalid license. This happens if you change computer hardware configuration or license file is corrupt.
You can get a valid license file using "Help > Register..." menu.

I'm assuming this happened because the hardware signature is different when the container runs than when AI was registered. What is the solution to get this to work? A floating license?

Hello Matt,

Indeed, the encountered behavior is correct.

Please contact us on support at advancedinstaller dot com for a special license that will let you use Advanced Installer inside a Docker image.

Best regards,

Is there a simple solution for this we are also building inside a Docker container. I was only on the testing phase, but we will run into this same situation. What sort process did it entailed? Does AI have a base Docker image we part from?

Hello and welcome to our forums,

Yes, you can easily install and run Advanced Installer inside a Docker image. After Advanced Installer is being installed you can just run a "/register" command line.

All the best,
Daniel
