Re: 16.0 build EXE on XP Not a valid win32 application

Hello,

Are you testing the package on a Windows XP SP2?

If yes, please keep in mind that packages created with an older version of Advanced Installer than 12.5 are not supported on Windows XP SP2.

More information about this can be found in our "Advanced Installer Requirements" article.

With that being said, in order to create a package that is compatible with Windows XP Sp2, please download Advanced Installer 12.5.

If that is not the case, please give me some more details about the encountered issue.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
Catalin

Hello,

I am not quite sure I understand what you mean here.

If you build the same project with 15.9, the installation on a Windows XP works?

If that is the case, could you please forward me, by e-mail at support at advancedinstaller dot com the following:

- the setup built using Advanced Installer 15.9 (the one which works)

- the setup build using Advanced Installer 16.0 (the one that does not work)

- the Advanced Installer Project (.AIP file) that was used to create the first setup (the one that works)

- the Advanced Installer Project (.AIP file) that was used to create the second setup (the one that does not work)

so I can further investigate this on our end?

Best regards,

Re: 16.0 build EXE on XP Not a valid win32 application

Hello,

It seems that Advanced Installer 16.0 no longer supports Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Please find more information about this in the following article:

Advanced Installer Requirements

With that being said, the only way to build packages for Windows XP is to use Advanced Installer 15.9.
