Detect and Stop the Apps that are in use automatically

Hi,
In the MSI, iam trying to copy few binaries and exes. There is a chance that these files are in use. A pop up will be presented by AI to say that file is in use and the app that is responsible for it needs to be closed. The installation will be held up and until the user clicks on ok,it will not proceed. This will be a unattended installation. So, is there a way to automatically detect the app using the file and terminate it?.
PS:I cannot write a custom action to detect and stop the process individually as there are too many apps to stop.

regards,
Krishna

Re: Detect and Stop the Apps that are in use automatically

Hello Krishna,

Unfortunately, I am afraid I am not aware of any method in which that can be achieved.

I have been researching for the past 2 days but I was unable to find a way in which this can be achieved.

You can try to have a look on the following article about the custom action that does the detection:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... ate-action

Maybe this will be of use to you.

I will try to further investigate this and if I will find something, I will let you know.

Best regards,
