Connecting repackager to VM

Thu Aug 22, 2019 10:05 pm

Hey!

I am trying to capture an installation using the repackager and a VM and it’s failing with “Failed to power on the virtual machine” even though the VM is already powered on. I have also tried while VM was powered off, at which point the repackager powers up the VM, log’s in and then does nothing but fail with the error above. I have installed the Advanced Installer tools in the VM “OSprovision” and have validated the service is running. I have re-created the VM profile almost a dozen times and that has not worked. Re-booted the host a hand full of times and that has not worked. What am I missing????

VMware Workstation version: 15 Pro 15.1.0 build-13591040
Advanced Installer 16.2
Advanced Installer Repackager 16.2
Advanced Installer Remote Tools Installer 16.2.0.0

Hi,

Can you please manually uninstall and then reinstall VMWare Workstation on your host machine and see if this helps? Windows 10 Anniversary Update or newer updates may broke the VMWare SDK (installed on your machine) that our Repackager makes use of.

You can find more details about such issue on our "Trouble with Run in VM" thread.

All the best,
Daniel
