Wrong binaries directory after upgrade

Thu Sep 12, 2019 1:55 pm

We have an existing product where we have refactored the installation process and created a new fresh AIP file for the new version (2.0). After the refactoring we have run into a problem.

When doing a clean install of version 2.0 the binaries will be installed in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\CompanyName\ProductName\Bin"
which is the correct location and same version as version 1.0 was installed in.

When doing an upgrade from version 1.x to version 2.0 the binaries will end up in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bin"

What is wrong? Why do the path after upgrade lose CompanyName\ProductName?

There is a setting "Use original installation path when upgrading". That setting does not seem to work for me, since the path is changed after an upgrade.

Hello Helan,

I can not say for sure why this happens. In order for me to further investigate this issue, could you please forward me the following:

- the .AIP file used to build the older version of your setup

- the .AIP file used to build the newer version of your setup

- a download link for both versions of your setup (1.0 and 2.0)

- the verbose log of the upgrade process

by e-mail at support at advancedinstaller dot com?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Catalin
