Macafee detect a double extension file threats

Hi all,

When run a .EXE upgrade of the product Macafee detect a double extension file alert bellow the following path

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\1\EXE5DA3.tmp.bat

Is this a file extracted by advanced installer? or someone recognize this file?

Hello Diego,

Those .BAT files are temporary cleanup files.

We have fixed this issue (the double extension for the cleanup .BAT files) in Advanced Installer 16.1 (released on July 2nd, 2019).

Thank for the information!

So, to know what I should to update, i have to move project schema .aip or the installed version in our build servers?

Hello Diego,

If the "build server" is the machine where you build your project, then the newer version of Advanced Installer should be installed on it - so you can build your project using the newer version of Advanced Installer.

Re: Macafee detect a double extension file threats

Hi,

At a first glance this seems to be a resources used by a custom action of your setup project and cached by Windows Installer during installation. Not sure which resources though.

Could you replicate this issue consistently? The only way we could investigate on this will be to replicate the behavior on a test machine. So, if you manage to find out any test case or pattern that replicates this behavior just let us know.

All the best,
Daniel
