Error while installing patch above another patch

Hi,

I have an issue with creating a patch in the advanced installer.
I have an application say version 1.7.0 already installed.
Also, created patch 1.7.1 for the application above that.
Now my application has some more changes and needs to create another patch 1.7.2 above this application.
While creating the patch I gave the target image as an MSI file of the 1.7.1 full setup (which includes the application and the changes in 1.7.1)
and upgraded image as the latest changed one.
And I created the patch. Patch created successfully.
But while installing the patch above 1.7.1, it's showing the below error.
Can you tell me the reason for this error?
Thanks,
jes.

Re: Error while installing patch above another patch

Hello Jes,

From your description, everything seems to be configured well.

As it is suggested by the error message itself, this error is usually thrown when the target MSI is not installed on the machine. In our case, that would be version 1.7.1. Could you please make sure that version 1.7.1 is installed on the machine where you try to apply the patch?

Additionally, could you please have a look over the following thread and let me know if it helps?

The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service error

Best regards,
