BUG: AdvancedInstaller locks an exited installation

Hello,

We have an installer built using the latest AdvancedInstaller 18.3. (here is the compiled installer)

We install .NET Framework 4.8 using the following parameters as an AdvancedInstaller pre-requisite.
/passive /promptrestart /showfinalerror

If you run the installation .NET Framework installs correctly (well other than the other bug I reported).

BUT, if you start the installation and get to the "Welcome to the Prerequisites Setup Wizard" and then click cancel....

Then restart the installation the .NET Framework 4.8 installation *hangs* indefinitely "Waiting for another install to complete".

BUG:
Checking Task Manager you can see that the first time you start the AdvancedInstaller installer it starts MSIEXEC.exe and when you click cancel it does not terminate msiexec.exe. Manually terminating msiexec.exe allows .NET Framework to continue correctly.

Hello Dave,

I have tested this and I was indeed able to replicate the behavior.

I have forwarded this to our development team for further investigations.

I will update this thread as soon as I will have any useful information about this/the issue will be fixed.

Hello,

We've done some more testing and this has been an issue for a while, it's not isolated to the current version of AdvancedInstaller.

Cancelling pre-requisites will cause other installers that require exclusive access to Windows Installer to fail under the user reboots or manually terminates the msiexec.exe.

Thank you for your followup on this.

Unfortunately, I really can not say what the root cause of this may be. I will have to wait for the development team to further investigate this.

As already mentioned, I will update this thread as soon as I will have more information regarding this.
