I have tested this with a sample project and I can indeed confirm the behavior.
I have forwarded this to our development team and hopefully this will be fixed in a future version of Advanced Installer. As soon as the fix will be released we will notify you on this forum thread.

Until then, as a solution, you can use your own custom action (PowerShell script, VBScript, etc) to check the write permissions on the folder. You can also check the
