Intalled program give error when running after install with admin account

Wed Apr 27, 2022 4:16 pm

I have an installer built with an Advanced installer project. When i log in to an admin account and run the installer, the program is installed correctly and runs fine. When i then log out of the admin account and then into a regular user account and run the program i get an error saying i don't have permissions.

After checking the permissions of the file I see that i have no permissions on that file. It doesn't even display the icon for it.

Any ideas on what setting i have turned on that would cause this behavior?

Hello,

I have run a test just now and everything worked as expected on my end.

Here is how I have tested:

- in the "Files and Folders" page, I have added a new executable

- built the setup

- created a new user account, with no administrator rights

- installed the package

- switched to the newly installed user

- went to the installation folder and launched the executable

By doing so, everything worked just fine, the application was launched.

If possible, could you please let me know if you altered the "Permissions" for either your folder / executable in the "Files and Folders" page?

Best regards,

I have not changed any permissions on any Files or Folder in the "File and Folders" section. As far as I can recall I did not change any permissions on anything intentionally.

Hello,

That is quite strange, indeed.

If possible, could you please create a sample project that reproduces this and forward it to me (together with the files needed to build the project) by email at support at advancedinstaller dot com so I can further investigate this?

Best regards,
