Registry Key does not work

Mon Sep 12, 2022 11:09 am

Hello
I am currently testing Advanced Installer.
This is what my installation looks like:
1. run registry keys that I have captured.
2. run a external setup file
3. finish the installation

My problem is, the registry entries are not executed. Why?! And the strange thing is, on a virtual machine the registry entries are executed, it works there. But not on my computer it does not work.
I don't have any antivirus installed on it. Only Windows Defender.
Do you have any ideas? If I run the registry manually (run .reg file), it works. But not via the .exe installation file I created with Advanced Installer...

I'm getting desperate. :(

Hello Jason and welcome to our forums,

Do you simply import the .reg file into your Advanced Installer project and then install the setup?

If that is the case, please note that your setup being set to "32-bit" in the "Install Parameters" page, if you install it on a 64-bit machine, the registry entries might be redirected under the WOW6432Node. This is a phenomenon called "registry redirection" and its purpose is to differentiate the 32-bit and 64-bit applications on a 64-bit machine.

Could you please check the key I've mentioned above and let me know if you find your entries there?

Best regards,
Catalin
